What is Indian Head Massage
Indian Head Massage, (or 'Champissage', as it is known in India), traditionally is a massage practised by Indian women for over a thousand years. It involves relaxing movements of the upper back, upper arms, shoulders, neck, head and face. It was originally used as a technique to keep long thick hair healthy and in beautiful condition helping to relieve the stress and tension of everyday life. It is applied to the hair and scalp differing with each season to keep their hair strong, lustrous and in good condition. The scalp can be massaged with various nourishing oils which are believed to improve the texture of the hair and scalp. Due to the increase in circulation from the massage movements, the base of the hair follicles are nourished and hair loss may be prevented.
The skin on the shoulders, neck and arms can be massaged with various mediums depending on client skin type and preference, i.e. oil, cream, talc. Another alternative would be to utilise the skin's natural ability to produce its own natural secretions, which are produced as the skin in stimulated - i.e.: sebum.
